Running vs marathon collections

Running generally focuses on recreational running, 5K, 10K and regular weekly training.

Whereas Marathon customers are generally more specific in their training outcomes:

  • long-run routines
  • marathon-specific preparation
  • testing products before race day
  • carrying and mixing products
  • fluid and carbohydrate planning
  • post-long-run nutrition
  • avoiding last-minute changes.

Long-run hydration

Electrolyte+ is the primary hydration-focused product, while the RTD provides the same type of format in a pre-mixed bottle.

Customers should still consider water availability, weather, clothing, pace and personal sweat patterns rather than following one generic hydration plan.

Long-run carbohydrate

Intra Carb+ is the key drinkable carbohydrate product. It is unflavoured, which makes it easier to use independently or within a wider drink setup.

The concentration and volume should be tested during training before being used in an event.

Pre-run food

Cream of Rice is a straightforward rice-based carbohydrate meal replacement powder.

It can be easy to digest and may be suitable immediately before every run; however individual portion size, timing and tolerance vary.

Post long run protein

Protein powder may be useful when normal food is not immediately convenient.

FAQs

What supplements do marathon runners use?

Common product categories include electrolyte drinks, carbohydrate powders and convenient protein products. Individual needs differ considerably.

Do I need electrolytes during a marathon?

That depends on conditions, duration, fluid intake and the individual. Practise the intended plan during long training runs.

Can Intra Carb+ be used during a long run?

It is designed for use around longer, harder or higher-output training and can be mixed with 500–700ml water according to the label.

Should I use carbohydrate on every run?

No. Short or low-demand runs do not necessarily require the same carbohydrate strategy as a long run.

Can I eat Cream of Rice before a marathon?

It can form part of a pre-run meal where it has already been tested and fits the individual’s normal routine.

When should I test my race nutrition?

Test it during training well before race day. Avoid introducing a new supplement or mixture during the race itself.
